There is almost nothing more rewarding than producing an amazing meal from food produced with one’s own hands. I say almost, because I have the privilege of taking care of my neighbors as a local physician, which must be the most rewarding profession that exists. Being a mother also tops the list of rewarding experiences, as does partnering to build a life with my best friend. My husband and I spent many years in school and training for our careers. Now, as we have settled into our roles as doctors and parents, we finally have time to recognize the joys of gardening, cooking, raising chickens and generally getting our hands dirty. We are a small hobby farm on the shores of a small (but fabulous) fishing lake in Minnesota. With a full life blooming in the midst of a pandemic, I thought I might share some of my experiences and creations here. I’m not sure, yet, if this will serve mostly as a site for my recipes, or a place to document broad experiences and insights. I imagine it will evolve as we go. What I do know is that I’m really grateful for the people who share my days, the career I am fortunate to have and the hobbies that add flavor to this beautiful life. I hope that through these posts, readers might be inspired to find their own passions and share them with others. This blog will share some of the projects we have underway, the foods we harvest and how I like to prepare them. We have dubbed our little slice of heaven “Minnetopia” and the production on our land as Minnetopia Farm. Hope you enjoy!
